LEAGUE

RULES

FORMAT

Each group will have 4 players designated A, B, C, D.

Week 1. A&B vs. C&D

Week 2. A&C vs. B&D

Week 3. A&D vs. B&C

A 10 minute warm up is allowed before the match starts. Players then play until one team reaches 13 games OR until an hour and a half has passed. When time is called play stops immediately and the score in games in reported to the supervisor.

After a 3 week session, the scores are totaled and the player with the highest score in the group moves up into the next group, while the player with the lowest score moves down into the group below. Ties are broken by first considering the number of spares (most spares loses), and then by the toss of a coin.

For players arriving 10 minutes late, there will be no warm up time provided.

SPARES

If a player is unable to play one night, they must inform the Club as soon as possible (preferably the week before). The supervisor will then attempt to get a suitable spare from the spare list, a player from one group higher/lower, or an intermediate or junior player deemed suitable.

When a player requires a spare, they will be penalized 5 games from their final for that week.

If a player fails to show up, or if they do not call to notify the Club by 12 noon on their league day, they will be penalized 8 points from their final score for that week.

In the event that only three of the four player are present, the fourth will be given fifteen minutes to show up. After fifteen minutes have past, the remaining three will proceed to play Australian Doubles tennis.

If a player is repeatedly absent, they will be required to surrender their position to a willing player.

TIMES

The time for each group will change each week. The individual is responsible for knowing his/her time; be especially careful at the end of a session or after a partial rain out.

Times are as follows:

1. 6:30 – 8:00

2. 8:00 – 9:30

CANCELLATIONS

If the courts are not playable due to rain or other disasters, both sessions will be cancelled for the evening. Sessions will remain at the same times for the following week.

A session is considered complete after 60 minutes, therefore if the first time slot plays at least 60 minutes, and then the courts become unplayable (due to rain, etc.) they will report their scores to the supervisor and the second time slot will receive zeros as their score. The times will rotate as if the league was not cancelled.
